Propultion/drive We have considerd many different engines to our prototype. We have found the brand new common rail Cummins Mercruiser QSB 5,9 l the best engine in this segmentet. Therefore we decided on the C M. For futher info, pleace check out: http://www.cmdmarine.com/. ZF Trimax surfacedrives is not very well known among pleasure boat costumers. But for people in raceing- this concept is well known. It is a simple, strong and efficient system. The Trimax is also suitable for the havy torque of the diesel engines. People often say that the Trimax will reduce the handeling performance of the boat at low speed. This is not the fact. The broad hull of the cat will provide plenty moment for the propellers, and the big surfacedrivepropellers will also provide plenty grip. The fact is that the Trimax makes the handeling of the boat very easy. The boat is also fitted out with two speed gearbox. The two speed gearbox will make a faster acceleration and also a better performance of the propellers at max rpm. We can also use smaller propellers which will reduse cavitation at the tip of the propeller. We know that cat customers normaly wants a much higher speedperformance than possible with twin 480 hp. We can therefore recomend the Cummins 8,3 l engine with an output of 600 hp. This is also a standard engine with a TBO of 10 000 h. This might be the best compromise between high speed and low cost. However, if the costumer wants even more speed we can mount the SEATEK ( http://www.seatek-spa.com/ ) engines into our PBN. SEATEK has a 10,26 l racing engine with an output of 1200 hk. This engine has also a lower rating for pleasure and commersial use. The alternatives are then 620 hp, 660 hp, 780 hp, 820 hp, 950 hp. We will recomend the rating between 780 -til 820 hp. The weight is then 880 -900 kg dryweight. These engines are today used in patrolboats and have an intreval of 1000 h before TBO. Seatek is a good alternativ to petrolengines.
Petrol engines The boat is designed to perform equaly with both diesel and petrol engines. It is the costomers need for speed who decides. The Mercruiser 525 hp, 662 hp and 1075 hp or the meanest alternative, the 1200 hp, are all options for the PBN. Check out: http://www.mercuryracing.com/.
Normaly the petrol engine will make the boating a more sporty experience. We do not recomend two speed gearbox in the petrol version. This is due to the much wider range of rpm on these engines.
Turbines If the costomer really wants peak performance, we can recomed engines from Turbine Marine ( http://www.turbinemarine.com/ ) . Gasturbines have the best ratio between power and weight. These engines are by fare the most powerfull engine avilable, and they are also very reliable. With TM we can ofer the 1450 hp i pleasure poker run version, or the 1800 hp racing version. With the last mentioned engines you will fly the sea at a speed of apr. 170 -180 knots ( 200 mph ++). var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ?
